I work predominately with acrylic paint and mixed media. My abstract paintings are based on still lifes, landscapes, imaginary places, and literature. The painters who have most influenced my work are Picasso, Chagall, Van Gogh, Millet, Matisse, Diebenkorn, and Kahlo. When people view my work, I want them to experience a sense of wonder and interpret the work in a way that is their own. I do not consider myself the end of my work, but an offering to an audience who will observe the images and form questions, make connections with their own experiences, and search their imaginations for a hidden story. At this point in my life I am working on illustrating poetry and, having worked with children for many years, I am painting my own images of favorite storybook characters. I am also creating handmade books and enjoying exploring various collage techniques.
